The Client:
Greene King Pubs/TPS
The Project:
We were contacted by Greene King’s main contractor, TPS, to survey and upgrade WiFi in pubs across the East Anglian and Greater London area.
Greene King were seeking to encourage their customers to utilise the Greene King app on their premises for marketing purposes and for this to work seamlessly the network on many of their sites needed upgrading.
Greene King commissioned site visits and wifi surveys of their pubs across East Anglia and Greater London to establish the existing access point locations and viable cable routes for the upgrade. We also ran through operational questions for the forthcoming installs with the managers of each establishment to ascertain working hours, parking availability, access times for the works and identify any other challenges.
On completion of the surveys we were asked to undertake the WiFi upgrades. This included running cables on the inside and outside of the pubs, mounting Fortinet access points on ceilings and installing external access points. We also installed telephone points for pubs that were swapping over to an IP phone system.
As a result, the sites now have improved wifi coverage, both internally and externally, that is compatible with the new Greene King app.
