We’ve been working at Norwich City Football Club for the past 8 seasons looking after the advertising digiboards that surround the pitch at the Carrow Road Stadium and also the giant Epoch screen on Home match days. We ensure they are outputting displays perfectly and resolving any operational issues. Since 2022 we have also been responsible for the digiboards and screen at the Ipswich Town Football Club home games too.
Norwich City Football Club’s Epoch 400, provided by adi.tv, is a 45㎡ high resolution screen measuring a huge 400 inches diagonally. Ipswich Town’s screen is similar in size, measuring in at 33 ㎡.
The screens are often referred to as “revolutionary” - in more ways than one. The screen has the ability to rotate between portrait and landscape format depending on the content that is being displayed. The screen is used before the match, during the build-up, so fans can see the pre-match stats, player information and line-up in portrait mode with pictures of the players being displayed up to 9 metres tall.
As the match gets underway, the screen revolves 360 degrees to landscape display allowing fans to view the detail of the match and replays. It also has the ability to face in different directions towards each stand so that fans can watch key moments replayed and enhance their experience.
The digiBOARD around the perimeter of the pitches display content is delivered directly from ADI’s nationwide broadcast fibre network on matchdays. Messages can be synchronised across the perimeter digiBOARD system and Epoch screen to create a Total Stadium Takeover message.
This creates obvious commercial benefits for the football clubs, with the ability to deliver a single sponsor message throughout the stadium to maximise impact. The influence on the fan experience is significant too – as lyrics to fan-favourite chants are coordinated across the digiBOARD and screen, and synchronised with the music to create a fan-rousing atmosphere.
So it’s our job on matchdays to ensure that the boards and screens are working perfectly for the fans' experience and the success of the commercial sponsorship of the club.
